It's about to begin. Who's going to win it all? This will be a better topic when the bracket comes out. For now we could talk about the conference tourneys.
There really isn't a solid #1 team. Yes Florida is a good choice for #1, but you have so many other teams in the top 15 that could easily take the #1 spot. This will be a hellish yet fun bracket to make :)
I can see having 5 different winners in the 5 brackets most contests let you enter. I don't see Wichita State making it. FL and AZ are probably the two most likely. Nova, Wildcats, and thanks to their recent success, Virginia are all possibilities. Duke, Michigan, and K-State are also outside shots. I think anything below Syracuse is really stretching it, but fans are going to argue why their own teams are the best.
Go blue!
I honestly don't think Wichita State will get past the Sweet 16, if they even make it to the Sweet 16. They have struggled against some of the MVC teams and had a lot of help from the refs to stay undefeated. Dunk City won't be back as they lost to Mercer. Manhattan won the MAAC today.
I think that the NCAA should just let all of the teams in. Put the teams on a bracket by random drawing. It would only add 2-3 rounds to the tourney. The selection committee is too biased. Stephen F Austin was 27-4 last year and didn't get an at large. The Southland isn't the greatest conference, but 27-4 speaks for itself. SFA probably would've lost in the second (1st not counting the play in games) round, but they still deserved to go.
It will depend on the matchups Wichita State gets. If they can get favorable matchups, I'm taking another Final Four for them. But if they get screwed with matchups, Sweet 16 max
IMO, Wichita State is going to either win the whole thing or lose to the 8 or 9 seed in their bracket.
As for the winner, I have no idea. Both Michigan and UNC look good, but anything can happen. I'm expecting to see Iowa State make it pretty far, but not enough to win it all.
Once the teams I care about get eliminated (Wisconsin and UWM), I will be pulling for anyone that hasn't won it all in my lifetime.
Stephen F. Austin might be a Cinderella. They're projected to be a 12 seed. The funny part is that they have a 31-2 record. It's sort of hard to believe they aren't in the top 25. SFA is the same team that didn't get an at large bid last year with a 27-4 record.
WAH HOO WAH! ACC Champs!
:clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap:
Virginia's recent success has me looking, but I still feel I have to go with MSU. I also have ISU winning in another bracket. Other possibilities are Kansas, Arizona, Michigan, Duke, and Florida.
I think that Wichita State will lose in the Sweet Sixteen.

I have us losing to Michigan State as well, though I hope I'm wrong about that!
While we're on the topic...
Yahoo is now requiring a phone number verification in order to create a bracket. The terms of this include that they have the right to text me marketing offers. So, no more Yahoo.
Someone please create a pool somewhere - any site will do - and post it here? "Real" games start Thursday, so we need to have it by then!
How about ESPN?

Ha! I just created my own group as well! Forget it, I'll join yours. Kewl.
I'll try to join the pool tomorrow. I'm not done making my bracket yet.
If everyone wants me to, I'll join, but uh, I'm absolutely clueless on any of the teams in the NCAA bracket. So it would be me just throwing in random guesses and seeing how lucky I can get.
My Final Four consists of Florida, Arizona, Michigan State, and Louisville, with Louisville winning it all over Florida.

that's how these things work! i have two brackets, one consisting of likely upsets, the other my honest attempt to do as poorly as possible*. have at!
*as well as possible, but i suck
I'll need to make my picks, but I'll certainly join in

Yay, sounds like fun. I'll join.
Edit: Joined. My bracket name does and doesn't have anything to do with Alanland.
picked L'ville. BTW I'm mvfcfan
Final Four is Virginia, Florida, Arizona, and Louisville.
Championship is Virginia and Louisville.
Champ is Louisville
I'll enter as well. I know nothing, so it will be pure guess...

Weird, I have the exact same teams in. My only difference is that I have Florida beating Louisville.
Final 4: Florida, Virginia, Wisconsin, Louisville
NC Game: FL vs. L'ville
Winner: L'Ville
Cinderellas: (12) N. Dakota State and (14) NC Central with both advancing to the elite 8
Anyways in the NIT right now (8) Robert Morris is kicking (1) St. John's rear right now, 36-18 with 6 min to go in the 1st half.
Now, with the brackets set, the SDSU Aztecs (the truly most popular sports team in San Diego), will be one and done.

Yay, maybe my guesses aren't as stupid as I thought. (I have Florida winning the entire thing - and Michigan St beating Villanova to get to the finals.)
After reading an article this afternoon, I've swapped out an upset, and now, sadly, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are only meeting in my throwaway bracket.
In the NIT Robert Morris did it again. This is the second year in a row (beat UK last year) that they have been an 8 seed and knocked off a 1 seed. That's pretty impressive considering that an 8 seed is the lowest seed in the NIT. St. John's was their victim this year.
We are in an Alanlandian situation where Steve is both leading and closing the scoreboard. And I haven't set a score for tiebreaker, so in case of a tie I would lose. By the way, the scoreboard won't be posted until the overnight (or maybe morning) EDT when all Round of 64 matches have finished, but I need a little help identifying those competing:
AlpsNJ => Alps
Thing 342 => Thing 342 (obvious)
pianocello120 => pianocello
kendancy => ??
Leudimin => Me :happy:
mvfcfan => US 41
MattAKAZeffy => Zeffy
therealcu2010 => cu2010
dougtone => ??
AlpsNJ => Alps again
Yup, but he hasn't posted here. Only I have to identify kendancy, which I have no clue. Anyway, now that Round of 64 is finished here is the scoreboard. Stanford trolled all us except Zeffy (Who has and hasn't the Alanland related bracket) by winning New Mexico.
1. Thing 342, 270 points
2. pianocello130 (pianocello), 240 pts
2. kendancy (kendancy66), 240 pts
2. Leudimin (Me :happy:), 240 pts
2. therealcu2010 (cu2010), 240 pts
6. AlpsNJ (Alps), 230 pts
7. mvfcfan (US 41), 220 pts
7. MattAKAZeffy (Zeffy), 220 pts
9. dougtone, 210 pts
10. AlpsNJ (Alps) 2nd bracket, 190 pts.
By the way, my bracket, Pearson madness, isn't named after Lester B. Pearson, YYZ (Toronto airport), nor Pearson GA. It is named after other obscure thing :sombrero:
My bracket is relatively intact, save Duke, who I had in the Elite Eight.
No need to count my fail bracket, which has predictably failed. (That's both of them, actually)
My future school, SFA beat VCU so I'm happy about that :D, as for Texas losing, it was expected.. :/

IMO, Wichita State is going to either win the whole thing or lose to the 8 or 9 seed in their bracket.
Glad I went with the latter.
My bracket busted with Dayton beat Ohio State. It also busted with North Dakota State beating Oklahoma, Mercer over Duke and Connecticut over Villanova. I did pick Harvard to beat Cincinnati and Stephen F. Austin over VCU.
Stanford still trolling us. Also Dayton. After round of 32 the scoreboard is as follows:
1. (2.) pianocello130 (pianocello), 460 points (+220)
2. (1.) Thing 342, 450 pts (+150)
3. (2.) kendancy (kendancy66), 440 pts (+200)
4. (2.) therealcu2010 (cu2010), 420 pts (+180)
4. (7.) MattAKAZeffy (Zeffy), 420 pts (+200)
6. (7.) mvfcfan (US 41), 400 pts (+180)
7. (2.) Leudimin (Me :happy:), 380 pts (+140)
8. (6.) AlpsNJ (Alps), 370 pts (+140) (Championship fail: Villanova is out)
8. (9.) dougtone, 370 pts (+160) (Championship fail: Kansas is out)
10. (10.) AlpsNJ (Alps) 2nd bracket, 270 pts (+80)
Due to championship fails dougtone and Steve (well, only one of his brackets) have lost a ton of potential points. And I still can add up to 1160 points :sombrero:
I'm not too far behind in our contest. All 4 of my Fianl 4 teams are still in too. (Florida, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Louisville). What would be sort od sweet is if Dayton ended up going to the Final 4. I think it's safe to say they are this year's cinderella. I don't really consider Tennessee a cinderella since they are a BCS school.

X-( Corrected. I was wondering who was kendancy, since no one claimed it...
And I'm done in one night...... Thanks Kentucky and Michigan St :no:
Argh, Louisville has lost to Kentucky :ded:. At least I have a last chance: Florida getting to the final. dougtone already has its final score of 490. What is incredible is that the second bracket of Steve can still get the champion right.
1. (1.) pianocello130 (pianocello), 660 points (+200)
2. (4.) therealcu2010 (cu2010), 580 pts (+160)
3. (2.) Thing 342, 570 pts (+120) (Louisville out)
4. (3.) kendancy (kendancy66), 560 pts (+120)
5. (4.) MattAKAZeffy (Zeffy), 540 pts (+120)
6. (8.) AlpsNJ (Alps), 530 pts (+160) (Villanova out)
7. (7.) Leudimin (Me :happy:), 500 pts (+120) (Louisville out)
8. (8.) dougtone, 490 pts (+120) (Final score for him)
9. (6.) mvfcfan (US 41), 480 pts (+80) (Louisville out)
10. (10.) AlpsNJ (Alps) 2nd bracket, 350 pts (+80) (Michigan still in...)
Watching the KY/Mich game. It's a nailbiter.
Okay, only pianocello, cu2010 and Zephy can still get the champion right, while kendancy and Alps have their final scores up. I only can get Florida right if they win over Connecticut, and then the end for me.
1. (1.) pianocello130 (pianocello), 740 points (+80)
2. (2.) therealcu2010 (cu2010), 660 pts (+80)

4. (9.) mvfcfan (US 41), 640 pts (+160) (Louisville out)

6. (5.) MattAKAZeffy (Zeffy), 620 pts (+80)
7. (6.) AlpsNJ (Alps), 610 pts (+80) (Final score)
8. (7.) Leudimin (Me :happy:), 580 pts (+80) (Louisville out)
9. (8.) dougtone, 490 pts (+0) (Final score)
10. (10.) AlpsNJ (Alps) 2nd bracket, 350 pts (+0) (Final score)
Edit: This is the final scoreboard.
Florida is the only team that can help my bracket out (if they beat UCONN). However I picked Louisville to win the whole thing.
It's ironic given the name of the thread's OP, but I have a feeling this year's champion will come from a state without US 41 in it.
Or maybe that's wishful thinking :-)
UCONN vs. KY in championship game.
Okay, since Florida is out the final scoreboard has been posted some days ago. Now only Connecticut and Kentucky remain, and none of us had them, so there's one thing to do: enjoy the game.
Thoroughly enjoyed it, and the BBS at I-84 Exit 68 will need to be updated soon. :happy:
