Title: The I-176/U.S. 422/PA 724 project near Reading, PA
Post by: ixnay on March 11, 2014, 07:56:39 AM
How's that coming along?  It's been going on for a year and a half, right?  When will it be finished?

Or is there already a thread on that?

That only partially answers my question.

Apparently nobody on this forum uses that interchange on a regular basis, thus being able to give an eyewitness progress report.

Full(er) disclosure:  I am no stranger to the 176/422 trumpet, having negotiated it fairly frequently while attending what became Kutztown Univ. 30-35 years ago.  Since graduating in 1984, I made occasional trips to Reading and environs (the last time in 2011 before the current project started).

...drove through there Friday.  Traffic entering I-176 from US 422, where the ramps merge, is controlled by a temp traffic signal, since all traffic is shifted to the NB side of the highway on the new bridge over the NS RR.  The SB bridge over the RR is in early stages of being rebuilt.  The I-176 bridge over US 422 is also partially rebuilt.

Thanks.  Looking forward to my first trip to Reading after the project is done.  I'm sure it will be a beaut.
