Title: I-95 Construction in Rhode Island Question
Post by: JakeFromNewEngland on March 31, 2014, 06:24:44 PM
I was in Providence this last weekend. In between Exits 6-9 I believe there was some extensive road work. Does anyone know what RIDOT is doing? It looked like they were widening the road but I'm not too sure. Hopefully whatever they're doing takes away some of the nasty traffic I-95 gets.  :bigass:

I know they're working on a bridge replacement near Exit 5 in West Greenwich, but I'm not aware of anything in the Exit 6-9 stretch.

Maybe it was around that area. I couldn't remember where to be exact in the first place.

There's the infamous Quaker Lane bridge over RI 2 at Exit 8 which has been a "Road Work" zone for almost 15 years, yet no work ever seems to be done on it.

That bridge is a perfect example of what's wrong with making priorities on infrastructure repair. The bridge is in such bad shape they have temporary I-beam structures underneath to help support it because the foundations have crumbled. If they let that bridge go any longer, it's going to become RI's version of the 35W.
