and Brad Pitt is one of People's most consistently beautiful people.
so?
I had no idea that this was a legitimate award that anyone gave out. I thought it was limited to Father's Day mugs and cheesy sitcom plots.
Big deal, there's at least ten million Number One Fathers...well, the hats and shirts tell me so.
Just a warning, if this thread goes into politics and Christie bashing, this thread will be locked down.

I fail to see how it possibly can avoid Christie bashing. The setup is so obvious.

Agreed, and I'm not even a mod. I'm just glad a certain someone is on hiatus. Personally, I think the thread should be nuked before something happens.

yeah, it's pretty pointless even by off-topic standards. if we're not to turn this into a political discussion, then where, exactly, is this thread to go?
"yep, good father."
"for sure. gets that reproduction done."
"how big do you think his penis is?"
What's the latest on Bridgegate, anyway? Seems like that story has died down quite a bit.

"how big do you think his penis is?"
Are we assuming that it's proportional to the rest of him?

With most big guys, isn't it usually inversely proportional? :bigass:

I think you're pretty hard up with that joke. :colorful:

nj.com usually has at least one story a day on it. Most of them are rehashing other stories.
The lastest is that 4 more people were subpoenaed to talk to an investigative panel.
Bridgegate is right where Christie wants it - off of everyone's minds while more important issues (Crimea, hockey) come to the front.
Only reason i created this topic was to see how long it would take someone to take it into political territory.

Well, at least agentsteel's sharp turn, into the most plausible non-political territory, is a keeper.

He did try this tactic in the fall, when the media kind of slowly stayed on the story from September on (it was in the Record every few days) and Christie consistently avoided or deflected (remember the "Yeah, sure, I went out there and moved the cones myself" joke?). It didn't work out so well.
Part of what make the ultimate revelations so damning then was all that evasion. He's at least taking the Spitzer "not here to discuss that" route, which is slightly less damning, but how much will depend on what further revelations come out.
Aaaand here we go.

Whatever. If you want to call it Christie-bashing to comment on how the biggest roads-related news story of the past year has played out, you're entitled.

V'ger? Will this thread become his Cosmic B'Bar?
Well, "He-who-may-or-may-not-be-allowed-to-be-named" is too cumbersome a term.

Speaking of fat and Jersey, what are some great restaurants, drive-ins etc. between EWR and the NYS Thruway in Rockland County?

Drive-ins meaning grease joints on the side of the road?
Rutt's Hut, Clifton - deep-fried hot dogs
The Fireplace, Paramus - all manner of fast food
White Manna, Hackensack - tiny grilled burgers
Kinchley's, Ramsey, or Park Tavern, Rutherford - classic thin NJ bar pie
All old and beloved and greasy in their own way. Should fatten you right up.

Holy crap, you managed to pick all the overhyped, actually terrible places.
*Lyndhurst Pastry - quite possibly the best Italian pastries in the country. (Outside Boston's North End) It's on NJ 17 near NJ 3.
*Mario's Pizza - off Parkway Exit 151 in Bloomfield. Classic Jersey pie. If you go that way, check out Holsten's ice cream at Watchung and Broad, the place where the Sopranos ended and they still make good ice cream despite that.
*In the mood for a diner? I'm a fan of Arlington Diner, on NJ 7 just east of 21. Note that you can't get right back on 21 there, but you can get on a short drive to the north.
*Greasy burger joint: White Mana in Jersey City is WAAAAY better than the Hackensack one. It's on US 1&9 north of Tonnele Circle. But with the Pulaski Skyway closed, I wouldn't recommend trying to get there.
*Great burger joint: Nothing but raves have I heard for Elevation Burger in Montclair.

Say what you will — and several of these are half of those silly "that place is terrible, its very similar analogue up the road is far superior" rivalries of personal preference — but I've been to them all many times and they each provide a tasty and fun experience for folks I bring to them.
If you are a hot dog eater, by the way, there is no shortage of places, many with the North Jersey regional style (called, appropriately, "Texas wieners"). "All the way" at these places is usually mustard, raw onion, and a runny chili sauce with Greek-influenced seasoning similar to that found in some hot dog and chili places in Ohio or Michigan. Some grill, some fry in oil. There is a lot of blasphemy-talk between devotees of one place or another.
Speaking of which, has anyone caught the new Callahan's truck? How does it compare to Callahan's? I'm skeptical and expect to be hurt, but... So Big! So Good!
