Hi everyone. I'm Zzonkmiles, a self-identified road geek. Thank you to the admins for allowing me to register here.
I love interstate highways because I feel like I'm "in the world," kinda like when I'm at an airport. When I'm driving on the interstate, I often wonder where the other cars are going and where they have come from. Maybe the minivan in front of me is coming from Disney World. Maybe the 18-wheeler next to me has another 1300 miles to go. And maybe the Toyota that just passed me is rushing to the airport. I just like feeling like I'm a part of life as it happens when I'm on the interstate.
Regarding hobbies, I am primarily into video games. If you Google my username, you'll see how much of a gaming geek I am. But regarding driving, when I was single, one of my hobbies was to just get on the nearest interstate, drive to a random exit, turn around and come back home. I can't really do that anymore, but I do still get the driving bug regularly and want to "explore."
My favorite interstate is probably I-85 through Virginia. It's quite peaceful and beautiful with all the trees in the median. My least favorite is definitely I-26 in South Carolina. That road desperately needs widening. Another candidate for my least favorite interstate is I-4 in Florida for the same reason.
I've also recently become interested in rural highways. I probably drive faster than I should on those roads, but I like driving through no-man's land without all the traffic that an interstate has.
Anyway, glad to have the opportunity to talk with you all here.
Welcome! I too am into video games pretty heavily (and roads, of course). :)
