This topic is to show off any old freeway signs you've seen.
What freeway signs could really use a replacement in your opinion? Or have already been replaced.
I'll start:

BTW I don't live in MD.
IMHO, those MD examples along I-95 don't really need to be replaced. The exit tabs, which were clearly added later, have less reflectivitiy than the original button-copy BGS'.

I noticed that. Well. All those signs have already been replaced anyway...
Clearview as you expected....

There's still an old one at I-695:

The sign on the left was replaced. It was this:

Stealing from AARoads.com (since I can't take photos myself... and I'm sure Alex won't mind :)):

And will be going away for good shortly, once the structure and other signs are replaced under the ongoing I-95 Wellseley to Lexington sign replacement project.

Wow... that I-95 shield is really faded.
Another old freeway sign, A truck had struck it and the sign revealed an original button copy route shield for MD 212 on southbound I-95. I also noticed the exit tabs look older than the ones heading northbound I-95.

I took this picture in the fall of 2009 just a few weeks before the sign was damaged:

Two in a row near Tacoma, WA:
Center BGS is one of the last button copies in Washington. Sign on right and left both are old enough that they cover up the old WA-410 designation from the early 70s.

The oldest I can recall seeing were these in Philadelphia:

They really need to put this one out of its misery in Camden NJ:

Just remove the vandalism and straighten it. No replacement needed.

I would patch up the I-676 shield as well, but yeah, no replacement needed here.

Those are long gone (http://goo.gl/maps/PL6Z2); but those likely were the original Expressway signage and when the road was initially PA 43.
This fellow on the left has held up nice- I took this photo in 2010, but it was still there when I was in the area a few weeks ago

Wow... that I-95 shield is really faded.
At this point in time you can't even tell that the I-95 shield was ever painted or numbered. The green reflective sheet on the rest of the BGS is in shreds.
Roadman's prediction can't come soon enough. It's beyond being an embarassment.
Drive down I-94 into Chicago and you'll see plenty of button-copy (and some very ugly Clearview). Most button copy signs on Tollways have been replaced with Clearview now. :banghead:

I don't really follow anything in Illinois, but I just plopped street view down on a select few points on the Tollway, and the Clearview seems pretty good? A few negative-contrast uses but that's nothing new.

Anyone have a pic of their new iPass tollbooth signs please?
