Title: Vermont Straight Line Diagrams
Post by: froggie on May 07, 2014, 04:13:20 PM
VTrans is in the process of creating a full set of Straight Line Diagrams for both the state highway system and the state aid routes.  Draft versions are available on their FTP site:

ftp://vtransmaps.vermont.gov/Maps/VTrans_RouteLogs/

These are actually pretty extensive (a good bit more than New Jersey's).  They've developed a way to mostly automate their creating via Python scripts, using their LRS (Linear Reference System) data.  Included are data on crash locations, traffic volumes, roadway conditions (including curves), historic projects, bridge data, speed limits, and a lot more.

The "author" of this would be interested in any feedback people have.  You can either leave your feedback here or E-mail me.  Or, if you'd prefer to E-mail the author directly, shoot me a message and I'll pass the address along.

I need a username and password for some reason. I don't even have an account.

No you don't.  It's on their FTP site, freely available.

Your web browser is probably assuming it requires a login/password to go to the FTP site.  Try just leaving them blank.

Mine worked fine. I like the amount of data they give you compared to New Jersey's - except New Jersey's are just the SLD, Vermont's are sort of like "expanded" SLDs. Still, not a bad resource.
