Do you find it weird to have fireworks the day after?
My town does it on the 5th due to not wanting to have too much competition for attendence (it is free, but it is sponsored by stuff like the local chevy dealer)
5th of July is a bit weird (except for rain delays, of course). Though around here, the casino set off fireworks on July 3rd to avoid conflicting with the city's fireworks display on the 4th.

Yup, same over here in Bridgewater. My town did it wayy early (last Saturday) though. Tonight though, people launched their own fireworks in a rather hazardous location where an errant firework can turn into very bad thing outside my house. I'm not sure why they didn't do it last night. Oh wait - some did - at 2 in the fucking morning, which woke me up.

Because of Hurricane Arthur, I think.
The City of Alexandria, Virginia, will hold theirs next Saturday. They always do it the weekend after July 4 to celebrate the date of the property auction in July 1749 that is considered to be the date of the city's founding (although it wasn't incorporated until 1779). It was weird at first, but on the other hand, there is a much bigger and far more prominent fireworks display just up the river over the National Mall on July 4 that would take all the attention on that day!
As has been widely covered in the news, the fireworks here were moved to the 3rd to avoid Arthur, but were thrown into disarray by a much shorter but more severe storm that night. In fact, there is quite a bit of damage in my neighborhood from the 15-minute storm Thursday night, but almost none from Arthur.
Well, everything was fine and all here, but the thing is millions of people were still popping fireworks last night. :-D
It used to annoy me that Gainesville would have town fireworks on the 3rd, so I'd usually forget and have to go out of town.
One year we would up at Williston, and it poured almost at the exact moment the fireworks were about to start...being Florida, it didn't let up at night until a week later!
