Alternate end to Duel, both clips borrowed from an episode of the live-action Hulk series "Never give a trucker an even break" who borrowed footage from Duel

Anyone remember "The California Kid?"  The car chases were filmed on the same road Duel was filmed on.  Here are some scenes someone (not me) downloaded from the film on You Tube:

gotta love the Rapist Red single flashing light on the highway patrol.  I wouldn't stop for that either until I got to something at least as populated as a major league stadium, and twice as well lit.

None of this has anything to do with ABC game shows!

I was a kid when that movie first aired and it scared the hell out of me.  It didn't really cause me to fear big trucks, I don't think, but I remember that I didn't like two-lane highways for some time after.

I've seen both the movie and read the book that inspired it.  If anything, the book is even scarier.  But, maybe that's because I read the book first.
