Title: Interstate and US route in same state junction a number of states away equal to
Post by: NE2 on September 21, 2014, 08:33:21 PM
their difference

US 69 and I-70 are both in Missouri and intersect in Kansas. Any more? What if the Interstate has to have exactly 56 exits between the state and junction? What if a sheep fucks a duck?

Yeah what if a sheep fucks a duck?  I know they won't reproduce but like that will make you think of life.

US 31 (no suffix) is in Kentucky, but does not intersect I-65 until Indiana.

Interstate 74 and US 74 have a difference of zero, and intersect in North Carolina, which is zero states away from North Carolina where both routes exist.  There are 56 exits between the state and junction if you continually loop back and forth through their crummy incomplete concurrency by exiting and reentering in the opposite direction.  You may choose to exit by crossing the median if so desired.  The junction is in the state itself so this doesn't make any sense, but it still counts because I said so.  The sheep will find the duck is not all that it's quacked up to be and will duck the duck's calls.

Whatever happens, it won't be pretty:

Quote from: WikipediaWhen they pair off with mating partners, often one or several drakes end up left out. This group sometimes targets an isolated female duck, even one of a different species, and proceeds to chase and peck at her until she weakens, at which point the males take turns copulating with the female. Lebret (1961) calls this behaviour "Attempted Rape Flight" and Cramp & Simmons (1977) speak of "rape-intent flights". Male mallards also occasionally chase other male ducks of a different species, and even each other, in the same way. In one documented case of "homosexual necrophilia", a male mallard copulated with another male he was chasing after the chased male died upon flying into a glass window.[27] This paper was awarded with an Ig Nobel Prize in 2003.[28]

How about US-101 and I-5 they run into each other at their ends such as the East LA Interchange in CA and in Olympia, Washington in the Puget sound.

Illinois 72 and I-90 cross each other several times near Chicago, but not at all near Seattle.

I-8 and US-8 are 8 states apart.  they do not intersect, but neither do sheep and ducks.
