Title: Fairfax/Platte Purchase Bridge replacment
Post by: route56 on October 27, 2014, 08:57:16 PM
Today's email blast from KDOT... work on replacing the Fairfax bridge in Kansas City is about to begin.

Although I'm receiving information regarding this project from KDOT, this is actually a MoDOT project.

U.S. 69 over Missouri River Bridge Replacement Project (MoDOT / KDOT Project)  > #us69moriverbridge

24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound U.S. 69 from I-635 (in Missouri) to Kindleberger Road in Kansas will be reduced to ONE LANE in each direction, 24/7, beginning on Friday, October 24 for bridge replacement work. Both northbound and southbound U.S. 69 traffic will travel on the existing northbound U.S. 69 bridge (Platte Purchase Bridge). A crossover will be used to shift southbound U.S. 69 traffic to the existing Platte Purchase Bridge. The traffic switch is scheduled for Friday, October 31, 2014 and traffic will remain in this configuration until Thursday, December 1, 2016.

There will be a 12-foot lane width restriction and a 15-foot 4-inch height restriction throughout the project duration.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and "Give "˜Em a Brake!"  when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
