PRI.ORG: Sweden hopes to project a new image with its official font (http://www.pri.org/stories/2014-10-29/sweden-hopes-project-new-image-its-official-font)

QuotePlenty of countries have national birds, national anthems, national dishes – but a national font? There Sweden is all on its own.

QuoteYes, Sweden recently introduced its own font, called Sweden Sans. The idea is that the new national font will replace the many fragmented styles that government agencies currently use.

This isn't really as earth-shattering as the article makes it out to be. Plenty of businesses have had custom typefaces developed to make their branding distinctive. This is just a government doing the same thing.
