KSFY - Development in the works for I-29 in south Sioux Falls (http://www.ksfy.com/home/headlines/Development-in-the-works-for-I-29-in-south-Sioux-Falls-283142411.html)
The interchange at 85th Street & I-29 has been in the works for some time now. It looks like some private funding will be used to build it.
In my opinion, an interchange at 57th Street should have happened, but there was a lack of coordination between the City of Sioux Falls and SDDOT, and development was built up.
How the heck will that fit?

http://www.sddot.com/transportation/highways/planning/specialstudies/docs/I29Exit73FinalCorridorStudyReportNoAppendices.pdf starting at p. 130/253; p. 241 shows the "most technically feasible concept", a braided ramp
I'd think the easiest solution would be to have the exit before the I-229 bridge.
Huh, well that'll take a while.
There's not going to be an interchange on I-29 between I-229 and 41st Street... but 57th Street would be a logical location. That can't happen because of development by the City of Sioux Falls, and SDDOT not acquiring ROW prior to that, and lack of planning by both the City of SF and SDDOT.
The 85th Street interchange will fit in just fine.
