This Thanksgiving (and every day, but today I have heightened awareness), I am thankful for lots of things.
I am thankful for my faith, my education, my warm bed, easy access to clean water and food. I am thankful for having had mostly a good bill of health, and medical access when I've needed it.
This past month especially, though, I've realized that I have been most thankful for the people in my life, and for every seemingly small moment. Impromptu lunch with my Grandmom. A treat admission to the aquarium from some good friends who came to visit Baltimore. Learning how to play the card game pitch with my cousin and other family members. Celebrating my cousin's wedding and dancing with my mom at the reception. Watching freeway Jim videos in my living room with my husband and friends.
I'm incredibly thankful for the friendships I've made with so many of you through roads - through this forum, chat, and meets.
What are you thankful for?
iPhone
I am thankful that I can look at my job and say, "I'm gettin paid to play!"
I am also thankful for my good health...despite some "health professional's" opinion about what good health is and how my stats don't even come close! :bigass:
I am thankful for all of the other blessing that have been bestowed upon me and my family.
I'm thankful for my many friends (roadgeeks included), especially since I had so few in high school, and I'm also thankful for a family that supports and helps me so much in my life.
From the snarky standpoint, I'm thankful I don't live in Ferguson.
On a more serious note, I'm thankful for the things we take for granted–having a place to live, reliable heat, clean water, etc. Watching the news this year during the whole Ebola thing makes you realize how many parts of the world lack things we consider basic facts of society.
People: friends, family, acquaintances, even strangers. So many ways they can make you smile. Just those connections you have, deep or shallow, are like oxygen. (Yeah, sounds like a song from the 1970s (http://youtu.be/kRVwcPTnug8?t=6m10s)).
Also: very thankful for this forum. It's moderated, active, requires only a browser to access, has searchable archives, has a large population... we've really got it good here.
