Title: CA-17 wrongful death suit finds Caltrans partially at fault

This was in relation to the design of Laurel Curve and its impact of an accident.

Yep.  Makes you long for Highway 1 in the north part of the state where there's no shoulder, no railing, and a 100 foot drop.

That's pretty scary as well, though there is something about going through CA-17 towards Santa Cruz during rush hour that has me gripping my steering wheel hard and driving like I'm 70.

I started driving 17 "over the hill" almost as soon as I got my license, so I never found it particularly daunting (although the tire tread marks going all the way up the side of the jersey barriers on the curves gave me pause). When I was just there for Thanksgiving, though, I drove to Santa Cruz, which I hadn't done in several years, and kept thinking "@#$@#!!! Was the road always this dangerous?"
