Title: Carpool Lane Work Will Close 5, 170 Freeways Near Burbank Airport

This will ruin your Christmas commute if you plan to be in LA this week.

It's an overnight freeway closure.  They're used in LA and in other parts of California all the time.  It's not like Carmaggedon, if that's what you're thinking.

Yes, we have those in the San Diego area (such as ongoing work on I-805 and its new carpool lanes) quite frequently. We even have SR 163 closed a least once a year on a Sunday morning for run/walk on the freeway surface (I forget offhand which non profit organization sponsors that particular fund raiser).
