*Linux. But awesome, this is great news! I've always been somewhat interested in checking out this site, but it's never been worth the hassle to reboot into Windows and download Silverlight. Now, off to check it out.

Not just Linux users, but any user of a browser than isn't good at running Silverlight (Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc).

I've had absolute shit luck with it in every browser. Even IE has given me trouble before.

Maybe I need to take a look at my computer.

QuoteFINALLY a working mobile interface.

This was my biggest issue with the website...couldn't use mobile devices.

Always worked fine here in Firefox.

I run Waterfox (64-bit port of Firefox) and never had a problem either. The site itself is sometimes slow, but that's a separate issue.

I was wondering how to get a link from the new implementation.  The only thing I found was to use the twitter button.  Although the zoom level may not be the same as what you're looking at.

I always used the non-Silverlight version (I don't even have Silverlight installed), and it worked fine in Chrome for the most part.  The only problem was that I wasn't able to scroll to zoom, and the zoom bar would have a big jump toward the fully zoomed in end.  The version before that (with the radio button zoom "bar") worked fine.  The latest release is much faster, and doesn't reload the entire map when I move it just a few pixels.

Since I don't like the small map area, I decided to use Chrome's element inspector on the page to see if I could somehow load the map in its own tab.  When I right-clicked, I noticed that the map is an embedded iframe.  After selecting "View frame source", I removed "view-source:" and the trailing question mark from the URL, and found that http://apps.historicaerials.com/viewer (http://apps.historicaerials.com/viewer) is a full-screen version of the map.

My only complaints with the latest version so far are the fact I have to click "Search" instead of hitting enter, and the fact I can't edit drawings made with the drawing tools.

This was always a problem; you had to play with the URL to get the link working. And yes, click the bird for a link.
