Overpass hit by elevated truck, and part of it collapsed. Both sides of highway currently closed (9:20PM) and expected to last for many hours. Many images are available on the French website.

I'm not sure what exactly made a dump truck driver get on the highway with his dumper fully up, besides total incompetence.

A pedestrian overpass on the New England Thruway went the same way a few years ago, only that truck was supposedly opened in transit.

Someone took out a sign on 84 east of Hartford this way about five years ago, also.

Dump trucks can apparently be hard to keep down.

Same thing happened in Gatineau last week, except the overpass did not cede :

Yeah. I think that was an actual road, not a walkway kind of overpass, so that didn't make it crumble into pieces.
As for the dumper up, the Transportation Minister commented on the overpass collapse saying that we should have sound warnings about that, just like we have for when we open the driver's door with the key in place.

Most trucks have audible warnings for that, only the oldest ones don't. It wasn't clear if the one from the Longueuil incident was equipped with it.
