Looking at some scans I made of some of the maps I got near Christmas, I noticed the presence of a spur route of CR 518, which looks to maybe be present day River Rd (Middlesex CR 622). Current 518 ends at NJ 27 just past Rocky Hill - did 518 use to run further east then it now does today?

Typo - this was 514 Spur.

Figured just as much. However, another scan revealed that this was also previously designated as NJ 18 at one point, I guess:

What really caught my eye on the 1st map was the presence of 'Voorhees'. The Voorhees most people know and love is a town in Camden County, South Jersey, far away from this area. Looking at the present day conditions on Google Maps, it appears to be in the vicinity of Tara Greens Golf Center. Maybe it was a small, unincorporated area within a larger town, or maybe this Voorhees changed its name to something else. Either way, I'm pretty sure its long gone, except for maybe a few longtime locals that would know.

Vorhees has seen the name return recently in developments, including the new Vorhees station development.

This old neighborhood of Somerset was based around modern-day NJ 27 and it's station on the Pennsylvania Railroad's Millstone Branch.

In reality, it's been nice to see this old neighborhood get some life again, cause that name hasn't been used in years eithers.

TEMP 18, really, because it was never state-maintained. TEMP 41 is now regular 41, although most signs (even newer ones) don't acknowledge the difference. Instead, TEMP 18 disappeared sometime after the freeway was extended past 27. (It may have disappeared at, not after, that time. I'm not certain, because TEMP routes aren't logged.)

Was it posted as such, or just as NJ 18 (like 24 west of Morristown, 31 in Trenton, 347, and many others)?

Note it's been many years, but I don't remember much of any NJ 18 shields west of the old terminus at the Lynch Bridge / Metlars Lane junction. I only remember CR 514 SPUR signage.

Growing up I never saw anything, though I have admittedly little experience in Central Jersey. When 18 ended at 27? Who knows. I'd imagine S-28 was posted back in the day.
