Title: Divesting my website(s)
Post by: CanesFan27 on May 15, 2015, 08:44:39 PM
Hi everyone:

I'm divesting all of my websites on gn.com/net.  I will not be updating any longer (it's been i think five years as it is) and in some states I do have successors lined up but there is other items available.  Only one condition - just that you have an existing and operating website.   You can send me a note off line to discuss.

All or parts of sites are available.  Most of the states include some vintage photos from Michael Summa and others.

North Carolina (All Things NC) - Mike Roberson
Virginia (Old Dominion Roads) - Mike Roberson/Adam Froehlig
South Carolina - Mike Roberson

The following are available in partial or whole:
Multiple States:
The National Road (US 40): http://www.gribblenation.com/swparoads/essays/nationalrd.html

Pennsylvania:
PA Road Photos and More: http://www.gribblenation.com/papics/ (Keystone Town Markers I am donating to the Keystone Marker Trust Website - http://www.keystonemarkertrust.org/)
PA Turnpike Collection: http://www.gribblenation.com/breezewood/
SWPA Roads Project: http://www.gribblenation.com/swparoads/

West Virginia:
Mountain State Roads: http://www.gribblenation.com/wvpics/

Alabama:

Mississippi:

Florida:
Destination Florida: http://www.gribblenation.com/flpics/

Georgia:

Missouri:

Oklahoma:

Tennessee:

Midwest (Ohio/Indiana) and Northeast New England will remain with Dan and Doug respectively.  I will update here if any are taken.

I have actually been giving some thought to parting out my West Virginia highways page, which hasn't been updated in forever. So while I might be considered a logical recipient of your West Virginia page, it's not for me. However, I would be more than glad to turn over my WV pages to whomever takes Mountain State Roads.

Gribblenation is getting out of the biz? Dang. I really HAVE been unaware of things.

Are you looking for people to take over hosting of existing pages or to incorporate the content into their existing (and new) pages? I'd be interested into incorporating your PA Turnpike content into an updated and greatly expanded version of my PA Turnpike pages.

I have no website, but I'd like to know when these images of the Keystone Marker on US 13 as it enters the Angora, section of Philadelphia were taken:

http://www.keystonemarkertrust.org/default.aspx?pg=116&locID=429

Because I'm sure you know I've mentioned the fact that I took my own picture of it back in November 2013:

Be that as it may, I'd love to see all the material collected on GribbleNation kept alive.

No. Adam's just reprioritizing his life. I can relate. I haven't had a content update in eons. I just stick new photos up on Flickr and haven't updated my pages to provide links to those Flickr pages in more than a year.

Daniel:

You'd have to ask the webmaster a of Keystone Marker Trust - I am not directly involved in the site at all.  Though it shows photos from 2011.

Secondly I have no idea of what photos you may have taken, sorry.

Jeff:

Not completely - I am only offering the pages/material that I had responsibility for.  You haven't missed anything it's been five years or longer on most states since an update.

Brian:

A little of both - the material can be incorporated as that person wishes.  Redesign, updated info, etc.  please msg me offline about PA Tpk.

I'll talk with Mike about West Virginia...given that it's adjacent to Virginia we could theoretically incorporate it into VHP.

I could take the Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee photos.  Would give me an excuse to update my own website (which has probably been MORE than 5 years since I updated, but I'm still hanging onto it).

Mike emailed me about WV. No problem if you do decide to take it on.  As for AL MS TN - I'll give you a shout later this week.

West Virginia has a relatively small primary system so taking on ENDS pages and making route pages won't be an issue for me to get it onto VHP...

Mapmikey

I have information on most of the West Virginia state routes on my pages. You are welcome to use any of that information and any photos I may have. Once upon a time I had grand plans to put photos of route markers on the listings for as many WV routes as I could find pics for, but that fell through. I haven't even added new routes that have been added to the system (like the old route of US 50 through Parkersburg), but it would be easy enough to get that information.

If you want to take on a WV highway site, I will gladly turn off my pages.

Now if I can just find a home for my Kentucky exit lists...

Thanks...

I will definitely be creating WV route pages in the style of the other states we cover and will probably have photo galleries (ENDS pages for sure)...

It will be a few months before I take up this project as I am currently modernizing the SC route pages to move them off Angelfire and into the Virginia Highways Project...
