While doing some site work for AARoads, I realized that I-278 is among a short list of 3-digit Interstates that traverses multiple states. What are the other ones that do this? Off the top of my head, I know the following do:
I-278 in New Jersey and New York
I-495 in Maryland and Virginia
I-155 in Missouri and Tennessee
I-275 in Ohio and Indiana
I-395 in Connecticut and Massachusetts
Any more?
I feel like it should be more of a common occurrence, since 3-digit Interstates exist to provide connections to other places, but it seems like those places only include locations within the same state.
^^^I-275 is in Kentucky too
I-435 in Missouri and Kansas
I-635 in Missouri and Kansas
I-670 in Missouri and Kansas
I-280 in Iowa and Illinois
I-680 in Nebraska and Iowa
I-270 in Missouri and Illinois
I-255 in Missouri and Illinois
I-535 MN WI
I-265 Indiana Kentucky (once completed)
I-269 TN MS (once completed)
I-520, GA and SC
I-295 DE and NJ, MD and DC ???, RI and MA
I-535 MN and WI
I-676 in Pennsylvania and New Jersey
I-287 in New York and New Jersey

^^^I-275 is in Kentucky too
Oh hey, look at that. I forgot south of Cincinnati is Kentucky...
I-470 (Ohio/West Virginia)
I-205 (Washington/Oregon)
I-684 (New York and a tiny bit of Connecticut)
I-195 RI and MA. Also, I-684 is actually NY-CT(tiny bit)-NY.
Future I-785 in NC and VA
Here's a list of them from CHM. Many have been mentioned (bold are new), and future ones that don't link yet (I-269, I-265) aren't there.
I-129 NE-IA
I-155 MO-TN
I-195 RI-MA
I-205 OR-WA
I-255 MO-IL
I-270 MO-IL
I-275 KY-IN-OH
I-278 NY-NJ
I-280 IA-IL
I-287 NJ-NY
I-295 MD-DC
I-295 DE-NJ
I-295 RI-MA
I-395 VA-DC
I-395 CT-MA
I-435 KS-MO
I-470 OH-WV
I-471 KY-OH
I-480 NE-IA
I-495 VA-DC-MD (clips corner of DC -no exits)
I-520 GA-SC
I-535 WI-MN
I-635 KS-MO
I-670 KS-MO
I-676 PA-NJ
I-680 NE-IA
I-684 NY-CT-NY (clips corner of CT - no exits)
A listing of former multi-state 3dis might be more interesting.
On that list we have:
I-294 IL, formerly IL-IN
I-255 IL-MO is an interesting case, having been assigned, removed, and then reassigned over the same stretch of pavement.

In addition to the two you mentioned, there's I-495 NY (NJ) off the top of my head.
I-495 is only New York since the Mid Manhattan Expressway was cancelled. I-495 is no longer an interstate in NJ anyway.
It might of been a three stater if the Cross Sound Bridge was ever built with the cross Manhattan freeway. Either CT or RI would have been number 3 depending on what alignment for crossing the Sound would have been used as there were numerous proposals of the never built structure.

hence
former.
http://www.kurumi.com/roads/3di/3di-table.html has I-895 NJ-PA, I-669 TN-MS, I-274 IL-IA, I-895 RI-MA, I-266 VA-DC, I-875 OH-KY-IN and I-175 KY-TN as multistate 3dis (proposed, cancelled, prelimary numbers, etc) that haven't yet been mentioned.
And there'll be the future 195 or 395 (or whatever they go with) between NJ-PA near Trenton.

Now, such appears that there will be a future 295 in PA making I-295 DE-NJ into I-295 DE-NJ-PA.
... at least that appears to be the FHWA's
Redesignation Flavor of the Moment for this area.

Amazingly, It'll be PA's first x95...and of all the proposed x95s, this one was never really intended to happen!
I realize it's already mentioned, but one thing about I-205 in Portland is that it keeps its exit numbering into Washington. So SR-14 (the first exit in Washington) isn't EXIT 1, instead it's EXIT 28.
Are other multi-state 3dis like that?
Technically I-110 in Texas and future I-905 in California routes to another country. :bigass:

I-275 around Cincinatti numbers from I-75/71 south clockwise around the three-state routing. The only exceptions are along the concurrency with I-74.

You gave me a chance to post, which is something I haven't really done too much of lately. And for that, I thank you.

The Capital Beltway continues the exit numbers across state lines.

I-635 Kansas City also keeps its numbering. I don't know about I-670; part of it runs through the Alphabet Loop so it's hard to tell.
I-270 in the St. Louis area resets mile markers and exit numbers when it crosses into Illinois. I-255 does not.
