Title: Historic Atlanta highway map?
Post by: usends on July 18, 2015, 07:39:01 PM
The earliest I've seen is the inset on the 1938 official (https://www.flickr.com/photos/usends/19816576951/in/album-72157649919539188/), and by then, US 78 was already routed along Ponce de Leon.  It seems like it would've originally gone through the downtown CBD, maybe using DeKalb-Decatur-Marietta.  Does anyone have an earlier map that sheds light?  Thanks...

Here's one from a 1932 Rand McNally road atlas.

Nice... thanks!  So US 78 did originally go thru downtown, and US 23 did originally use Peachtree... good to know

I remember trying to research that not to long ago as well.  I thought that the US highways always went around the CBD.  I didn't see that 1932 map.
