Between Sheridan and Broadway on Chicago's North Side (Uptown), a "shared street concept begins construction. The street will be raised, recovered with paving stones, and essentially be shared with cars, bikes, and people.
A 15 mph speed limit and limited parking is intended to discourage drivers from using this street, but it's still passable.

Given the way that Chicagoans drive, and find creative ways to park, I'm not entirely sold on it. I'm also wondering about how it will be plowed. I guess we'll find out.
Pay wall for me because I already exceeded my monthly free limit.
I like the idea though. Your not going anywhere any place fast in rush hour in the city in a car, so might as well make traffic even worse! (but its only a few blocks)
I hate driving in the city and prefer to use public transit in the city. Much less stress and cheaper. I do like owning a car though to be more independent than relying on public transit routes and schedules, so I don't plan on ever moving into the city and I plan on staying on the outer most fringes of the burbs with the corn fields and deer.
