Title: Roads and Clickbait... together at last!
Post by: Dougtone on August 12, 2015, 02:27:12 PM
Clickbait is amazing. It prompts us to click on links that we wouldn't otherwise visit and Buzzfeed is happy to receive the incoming traffic.

OK, so maybe that isn't how I really feel about clickbait. However, I felt that it would be a fun exercise to come up with roadgeek related clickbait. Feel free to add to the list.

The DOT put up a sign error. You won't believe what happens next.
The bridge authority raised revenue using this one weird tip.
North Carolina is building another Interstate highway. What happens next will surprise you.

There are only 318.9 Million people in the US, so I have to wonder where a clickbait site would get that 500 million figure.

Clickbait makers probably don't bother looking up figures and the viewers don't really notice the difference.

Another instance of clickbait misusing the word "incredible" (although many people misuse it, not just clickbait articles). If it actually is incredible, you won't believe it even if you do see it.

I frequently look at nj.com.  Since I'm generally viewing it in NJ, the clickbait will read "NJ Drivers Don't Know this rule".  On vacation to Florida, no matter what state I was in, the clickbait was based on where I was located.  "Florida Drivers Don't...", "South Carolina Drivers Don't...", etc.
