It's not hard to find examples for every style of U.S. shield*, and I assume the same for Interstate shields, but are there any clear-cut [good] examples of all ~3 styles? Google Images doesn't help. :banghead:

You're missing the California cut-out unless it's the same shape as the 1948 shield but removes the state name and increase the size of the numerals.
Sign Specification from Caltrans...
www.dot.ca.gov/hq/traffops/engineering/control-devices/specs/G26-2.pdf
* 24-inch shields have 10 inch numerals
* 30-inch shields have 12 inch numerals
These are the only two sizes specified for independent-mount shields. There are no specs for a 36 or 48 inch shield.

I am certain there are quite a few others I missed...
If I were at home, I could post the relevant spec pages from the Ohio Sign Design Manual...

Note, the main drawing for the 3-digit shield is actually the same as the main drawing for the 2-digit shield with different dimension labels; however, if the sign is constructed using the specified dimensions, it will in fact come out as a wide shield.
