Title: White Plaques With Interstate Shields Becoming More Common in Tenn.
Post by: Brian556 on September 15, 2015, 11:48:14 PM
I've now seen three instances of white directional plaques w/ Interstate shields recently.

1. US 41/64/72 at SR 27. (W of Nickajack Lake) This was done several years ago.
2. US 41/64/72 at SR 134 (just E of Nickajack Lake) These were just installed.
3. SR 317 just E of I-75, at OLD Lee Hwy. These are rather recent, SR 317 was re-routed to I-75 in this area.

I've seen this in the New Orleans area too.

Nice touch on the TN 27 directionals.

White directional plates and arrows get installed with Interstate markers quite frequently in a lot of places.

And Tennessee uses that style of arrow with directional indicators fairly often.

I used to see the white plaques a lot in Ashland back in the 80's.  Thought it was rather cheap of KYTC back in those days.

The directional arrows seem to be most common in TDOT Regions I (Knoxville/Tri-Cities), II (Chattanooga/Cumberland Plateau), and IV (Memphis/Jackson).  Region III (Nashville) for some reason seems to lag behind the rest of the state in signage practices.
