To make AgentSteel happy (see https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=7358.0), Caltrans began construction yesterday (10/26/2015) on some of the missing ramps that will link the current southern end of SR 125 tollway directly with SR 11 and SR 905. Construction is slated to wrap on this first phase at the end of 2016. This project links SR 11 west with SR 125 north; SR 905 east with SR 125 north via loop ramp; and SR 125 south with SR 905 east/south into the Port of Entry.

Is the new SR 11 toll road going to be all-electronic and will it be restricted to Fastrak only (a la Westpark/Sam Houston NE/Tomball Tollways in Houston)?
It seems to me that once 125 is extended and 11 is built, it would make sense to have 11 renumbered to 905, so then we'd have an interchange with 125 being N/S and 905 being E/W.
Isn't 905 going to be an interstate at some point in the future? I thought I had read something about that before.

I can think of at least one post-1964 example where a former state route number was recycled for an Interstate - the former Route 215 along old Route 71 (Garey Avenue) near Pomona. So if I-11 ever made it out here, the short connector to the border could easily be renumbered.

Come to think of it, from 1972 to 1986, the section of today's 905 between 125/11 & the border was actually legislatively part of 125 (though unbuilt through that timeframe).
