Title: M-39 reconstruction
Post by: Hellfighter on September 22, 2009, 01:47:39 PM
M-39 between I-75 and I-94 will finally start today (http://freep.com/article/20090922/NEWS02/909220363/1320/Construction-to-repair-Southfield-Rd.-begins). it'll last through the winter and there won't be any complete shutdowns. But they will be rebuilding the roadway and replacing utilities.

They already began the process of removing (possibly burying?) the overhead power lines in the median from just east of Roosevelt to just east of Toledo Hwy. a few weeks ago.

It's nice to see M-39 be reconstructed between I-75 & I-94, but the M-39 Southfield freeway should be rebuilt also and into interstate standard. I would like to see I-394 to get the moniker. The thing that bothers me about the Southfield Fwy. is all those unused frontage roads along the side in the vicinity of the US 12 interchange.
