The last two miles of the six lane expansion of I-80 between Omaha and Lincoln is moving to its final stages. On November 22, 2015 exit 396 faded into history when it was closed in order to build the eastbound outside lane and shoulder between exits 395 and 397. Also the state's first DDI is taking shape with a NDOR goal of a December 31 opening. Even with the favorable fall weather this will be moved back as the demolition of the old eastbound bridge over NW48th St. continues followed by new concrete placement for both northbound and southbound lanes. The eastbound on ramp at this interchange will be closed until June 2016 when the outside lanes are finished. The westbound lanes are finished with the added touch of an overhead gantry for exit 395. A little note of trivia: with exit 396 closed for good, Lincoln now has only odd numbered interchanges: 397, 399, 401, 403, 405 and 409.
Thanks for the update. I was not aware there was a DDI going in the area! That will be...interesting.
