Title: Sports logos on bridges/roads
Post by: peterj920 on January 28, 2016, 05:45:11 PM

Here is the new I-41 bridge over Lombardi Ave.  The Packer logo is on the facade of the bridge and will be painted once winter ends.  Are there any other bridges or roads that feature sports logos.

This is probably cheating (https://www.google.com/maps/@33.7745856,-84.3930715,3a,75y,159.95h,58t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sylyy4bpKaHMc8fwJTKLWiw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656), but I am honor-bound to include it. And it is a publicly-accessible road except on gameday.

I believe there are signs along the Capital Beltway in Maryland with the Redskins' logo guiding people to FedEx Field.

Various streets in Charlottesville have the UVA V-Sabres logo painted on the pavement. That sort of thing is common in college towns (with their own appropriate logos, of course).

There's a Colts logo along the 465 in Indianapolis on the sign for their practice facility.

Several of these around town in various locations, mostly near campus.

The interlocking UNC NC appears on street blades in Chapel Hill:

Yep, we've got that at VCU. (Street View currently doesn't show anything - here's a Street View from 2012 that shows the old VCU logo. The new logo was painted on most streets around campus last fall.)

The Liberty University logo appears on some horrific Clearview signage on US 460 in Lynchburg:

...and on other signage:

Hell, if college logos count, Yale's has been on the Derby Ave. overpass over the Wilbur Cross Parkway since 1941.

The Nationals logo was on signs along I-295 northbound approaching the S. Capitol St interchange when I was there in 2010, but the latest Street View doesn't have it there anymore.

And Harvard's logo has always been facing the wrong way for parkway traffic on each side of the overpass.

They removed it from all the signs a few years ago after deciding it didn't help people navigate. I believe it was also removed from the signs on the Beltway in Maryland for the Branch Avenue Metro stop.

Where?  There's currently a shield with the word "Orange" on each wrong-way face (this intersection is in the town of Orange).
