Workers are planning to reopen Eastside and Trinity Mountain roads within the next two days as a detour. That route had been closed for winter.
Highway 3 remains open north and south of the closure, which is near Rush Creek Road and Trinity Dam Boulevard southwest of Trinity Lake. It's about two miles north of the Rush Creek campground.
County roads jut off of Highway 3 in various areas, though drivers should always check with both Siskiyou and Tehama counties' public works departments before traveling in the areas.

Some guy from South Pasadena will build a house in the gap. Highway 3 will never be reconnected.
CalTrans will renumber this to CA 39 so they can permanently close this.

Now if they could get a single lane of asphalt open on that 3,000 foot mountain pass between Weaverville and Shasta on 299 that would be great.... That was a lot of fun trying to go down a 6% grade on dirt with a ton of people who were spooked by the surface in the construction zone.
