This is probably the worst traffic I have ever seen. Good lord.
I dunno, this is equally if not more worse than NYC:

I haven't been to California since I was 1, but that does look pretty ugly.

Yeah, the city was basically screwed today. Just one of those days!
Had to do with the fire under the tracks in the Bronx causing reduced (regular Saturday) service on the New Haven and Harlem lines.

That, and a fuel truck that overturned and spilled fuel on I-495. Eastbound and westbound were both closed.

That, and a stagehand got himself shot dead by police in the Theater District, causing 8th Ave. to be closed for much of the day.
oh the joys of living here >.>
Working on the timestamps of the posts, NYC's post occurred at 6:30 PM Eastern, but LA's post occured at 3:30 PM Pacific. NY's is much worse for this day for the reasons that others posted. And you can see that most routes are red in both directions. LA, however, is much earlier in its rush hour and the backups tend to be much more one directional.
But if you wait 3 more hours. LA's traffic would probably get worse

I wasn't saying New York has the worst traffic. I was just saying that the traffic was unusually bad that day due to unfortunate events that occurred at similar times.
