Came across this playing on Google Maps. This has to be one of the more strange old alignment situations that I have seen. One of the old alignments is closed, the other open. The closed one looks like the newer one that would have been the main highway before I-15 was built. it is even divided, with a very wide median.

Ah, the good old days! When US 191 ran along a legitimate route. I think today's 191 south of Yellowstone should have been a southern extension of US 187, or a northern extension of US 163.

Post 1980 when US 91 was cut out of Montana to that little dinky route it runs on now is the real joke...that route number ought to have been retired or shifted onto what became US 191 all the way down to Chambers, AZ. US 191 wasn't extended to Arizona. US 191 didn't start shifting around until it's connection with US 91 was gone and better yet it got rid of most of US 163.
