The Newberry Library has scanned a large collection of Automobile Blue Book Publishing Co. books from 1908 to 1921. There is a variety of years and volumes covering various sections of the U.S. They can be viewed online or downloaded in a variety of formats. As it says in the intro to Vol. 4, 1917, covering "Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, with extensions . . ."
The Blue Books cover the entire United States and Southern Canada in ten volumes (see insert between pages 504 and 505). They tell you where to go and how to get there, giving complete maps of every motor road, running directions at every fork and turn, with mileage. All points of local or historical interest, state motor laws, hotel and garage accommodations, ferry and steamship schedules and rates. A veritable motorist's encyclopedia.
