Road geeking in RI today and noticed a stub on RI-3 just south of Exit 4 on I-95 in Richmond, RI. It may be the original pavement as I see cracks on what would me the lanes going straight and merging into today's I-95. Anybody know more about this?

That's the north end of original RI 3 bypassed by what was built as a four-lane surface RI 3 realignment (and is now I-95). It was abandoned when I-95 was built, incorporating this four-lane south of here and using a new alignment to the north.
An oxbow was cut off just to the south, but I don't know if anything remains (besides grading). Note that the 'obvious' dirt path under power lines near the south end of the oxbow is not old RI 3; it's too far to the north.
