Title: "Abandoned" Route 66 Episode
Post by: coatimundi on October 08, 2016, 12:04:29 PM
Sorry if I'm wrongly posting this. I didn't want it to get lost in off-topic, since it's highway-related.

The Canadian-produced "Abandoned" aired an episode on Route 66 last night. It was one of the most realistic portraits of Route 66 I think I've ever seen. Not the Guy Fieri or Rick Steves version. Of course, with just an hour, they glazed over most of it. Lots of road geek interest stuff too, including the 11th Street Bridge in Tulsa, and talking about its importance to the overall road, a restored brick section in Illinois, and lots of talk about the supplanting of the interstates. The host also correctly pronounced "Tucumcari" which really impressed me.

The show airs on Viceland, so you can watch it online with certain cable provider logins: https://www.viceland.com/en_us/show/abandoned

Rogers has it on their site too, but the episode hasn't shown up yet:

If only I had thought of that. . . . Seriously, there's like eight different pronunciations out there. I don't know which one is right.
