I don't know if anybody remembers this, and I'm really not sure how many states used to do things this way, but years ago at exit ramps and service roads of diamond interchanges, the "Do Not Enter" signs facing the opposite directions had "Wrong Way" signs as supplements. Before you encountered them, there also used to be "Wrong Way" signs with "Go Back" signs used as supplements. I noticed those when the Long Island Expressway was first built through my former hometown.
Anyone else know about this? Is there anyplace in the country where this is still standard?
Never seen the "Go Back" signs, but ConnDOT still uses Do Not Enter and Wrong Way signs like this:

Michigan uses the red Wrong Way signs in many, if not most, places.
I remember when they came out, sometime after the freeways were mostly done in the state. Probably late 60's or early 70's.
A high-tech approach: after some high profile crashes, NY was considering sensor-driven systems, detecting wrong way vehicles and turning on alarms once detected. I don't know if those were ever implemented..
I think I've seen 'Go Back' signs somewhere, but forget where. What JP shows in the link is MUTCD standard.

Orlando has them:

I remember the Go Back signs too. They were the same width as Wrong Way, but on one line rather than two, and posted directly below Wrong Way. I wonder if Go Back was just a New York thing?
NYSDOT Region 4 (at least) has started enhancing their wrong-way signage. There are now
two Wrong Way signs, one above the other, on each set of posts, thus:
WRONG
WAY
(space)
WRONG
WAY
... on
each side of the ramp. Many of the Do Not Enter signs now have red reflective strips on their posts. Have other regions started this?
"GO BACK" is relatively common down under. Here are examples from both New Zealand and Australia (respectively), both of which I found almost immediately by chance:

They were. Old video is here (http://statepolitics.lohudblogs.com/2013/12/04/video-thruway-installs-led-signs-to-alert-wrong-way-drivers/). They're now at 4 places and activate VMSes upstream from the ramp as well.
Ohio had a bunch of wrong-way accidents in the mid-2000s and District 6 put in a crazy amount of signs. For example, this ramp has 3 sets of signs (https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9641936,-82.9835902,3a,51.3y,4.85h,86.44t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sGA26atW7Had9rILza3jRWA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656), with two pairs having 2 signs on each set of posts.

Region 4 has been painting arrows on the ramps recently as well.
In Newark, Delaware, there's a combined Do Not Enter/Wrong Way sign where Route 896 turns onto Hillside Road. This is a few blocks from the University of Delaware.
When new signing contracts come out...if there is a U-turn for authorized vehicles only, CTDOT now puts up "Do Not Enter," "One Way" and "Wrong Way" signs.
I guess the feeling is, so if cops, ambulances, DOT staff need to make a U-turn, you have to make sure they know which way to go.
It seems like a "we should put up signs to avoid a lawsuit" kind of thing.

Those signs tend to be up for those not making an authorized U-turn!

I seem to remember WRONG WAY signs being posted on the back of speed limit signs along I-84 between Hartford and the Mass. line back in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Is this something that ConnDOT still does? I always thought it was a great idea.

Indiana used to post WRONG WAY signs on either side of the freeway at underpasses for the longest time. When I was on I-94 last year coming from Michigan into the Hoosier state, it looks like that practice is on the fade.
Perhaps not surprisingly, there are a number of highly-restricted zones in the DC area. Accordingly, there is restrictive signage. All of the following photos are publicly-available through Google Street View. There are many other photos out there that I personally choose not to post because they depict security checkpoints and could be exploited by nefarious actors.
