Title: NYS legislative routes map?
Post by: empirestate on October 23, 2016, 11:59:03 AM
Has anybody ever compiled a map, or at least a listing, of the unsigned legislative routes assigned in 1908/1911 in New York?

I've never seen a map of them, but they're listed in the Highway Law.  You can find it at http://public.leginfo.state.ny.us.  Click Laws in the top navigation, then Laws of New York.  Then, just scroll down in the list to Highway.

A listing, I should say, of the routes as they correspond to today's route numbers. The Wikipedia pages seem to have comprehensive information on them, so somebody must have compiled this already, it's just not in a single place at the moment. You have to dig through the History section of the individual routes' pages.

Sorry, I don't think so.  I was in contact with NYSDOT a number of years ago, and the earliest route listing that they had was from 1970.  If you're interested in that, it's on my web site at http://www.greaternyroads.info.

Ah, that's it! I figured there must be something from within WP, since all the info is there. By the way, those SH numbers are all still on NYSDOT quads, so I could have reconstructed the routes from them–but I was hoping someone already had!
