Godspeed Mr. Glenn
Thank you for your service, in space and in politics. To the stars.
I got to meet him briefly on two occasions. Firm handshake, good eye contact, seemed a genuinely nice human being. Meeting him only increased my admiration of him. Sad that all the Mercury astronauts are gone now.
When I was a kid, a good friend of mine's mom was his secretary. I never met him because "I would get to it later". Then one day I goosed the throttle on a tractor while my buddy was on the back and he fell off. Then we weren't friends anymore so I never got to meet John Glenn.
I believe I-480 in Cleveland was named in his honor.
