Title: Google Street View
Post by: dallasnomad730 on March 23, 2017, 12:55:44 PM
I don't know any other board to take my frustration on, But i saw a post concerning Google, so anyone who uses Google Maps and street view does anyone notice their were new imagery from earlier this year but when you exit street view, you go click on a street and go back to street view again, then it reverts back to street coverage from circa aug 2016 to oct 2016. https://www.google.com/maps/@37.8024753,-122.4664008,3a,33.2y,280.29h,94.2t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sD_TxGkvRWuBQ5HgiNXbu-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

I don't know what the hell is going with Google Maps but it's not the first time they were new images in some various roads but they were taken down for some dumb reason.  I complained this to the Google Forum, but it's unlikely I'll get a response since they don't give a rat's behind.  :banghead: After nearly 10 years now Google still ranks worthless piece of crap awards cause they drive through the same roads over and over while there's a whole bunch of roads they haven't driven through since 2008 to 2014.

I don't know how you got to the 2017 one, but perhaps they took down the imagery because they had to edit some things.

I had bookmarked the page before they took it down.

This often happens with just-taken street view imagery.  Some frames sometimes accidentally make it online before they're supposed to.  Sometimes Google notices, sometimes they don't.  They'll probably be back when Google is actually ready to release 2017 imagery, probably in a few months to a year.

The camera was taken down to go under the low railroad bridge.

In fact, if you go out enough frames, there are flashing yellow lights and a sign that says "overheight vehicles stop".

Did not realize that the camera would not clear that particular bridge.  I do not know why they just don't eliminate coverage like they do on some bridges or like they did on High Street in Perth Amboy crossing beneath the Outerbridge Crossing.  You move the arrows its stops short of the bridge and leaves the gap.

Yet in 09 the camera passed under the trestle with no problems.
