Some of the latitudinal features make sense -- the Almeria desert in Spain corresponds to the north-central Great Basin deserts, while the Mojave and Sonoran deserts have their analog in North Africa. What the map doesn't indicate -- because it can't, is the difference in humidity resultant from the warmer Atlantic currents, which result in much more foliage in the U.S. southeast than anywhere on the map save Greece and Turkey, which have similar interface with the various Mediterranean components.
Interesting to see the former Yugoslavia at the same latitude as Wisconsin and the U.P.! Intuitively I never would have thunk it! :confused:
