Title: The 2017 World Games in Poland
Post by: bing101 on July 28, 2017, 12:40:44 PM
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_World_Games. Wow I'm amazed that these international sporting event are at play here. Note this event may not get as much attention in the USA though as its getting in Poland though.

The early Olympics, World Series, and Super Bowls were not the major events that they are now. Maybe this is another one that will become more of an important event over the years.

Also, don't link to Mobile Wikipedia. If you ever find yourself linking to "en.m.wikipedia", change it to "en.wikipedia", the non-mobile version.

The same I say. Desktop link will change automatically to mobile if read from a cellphone, but the other way round doesn't happen.

I remember there were a World Games which took place in no less than Chinese Taipei :sombrero:. I'm still trying to find that country in the map.

It's the Republic of China, the exiled Government that controls the province of Taiwan.

I'm surprised that the sport-mad UK has zero interest in this. I guess we have a load of sport events on currently anyway and these 'Ocho' sports, while interesting and would get watched here, have to compete for air time with the sports that we care a bit more about. Such as Cricket, Motor Sport, Golf, Women's Soccer, Darts, Rugby 7s, Cycling, Gaelic Football and MLB - all of which are currently being shown now (some sports on multiple channels) on UK TV (some live, some reruns/highlights). And boxing, CFL, mens soccer, Show Jumping, UFC and Tennis are on later, with Horse Racing, Aussie Rules, Ski Jumping, Swimming, Diving, Drone Racing, Rugby, Sailing, Windsurfing, Waterskiing, WWE having been on earlier. There's only so much you can fit on 10 sports channels with overflow onto other channels - we can't even get on the anniversary competitions taking place at the Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park currently.
