Title: Ugliest Intersections
Post by: plain on September 18, 2017, 10:40:57 AM
In your mind what intersection in your area could use a makeover?

For Richmond I would say where Maury St & E. 4th St meets the ramps to/from I-95 in the city's Southside. Outdated layout and numerous wire spans and wooden poles makes for uuuuggggghh

Danville itself is generally an oversized parking lot, so nothing specific here. In Goldsboro, NC where I used to live, it's this intersection:

It was always a pain in the ass. Still is. NCDOT is finally planning on realigning the intersection by moving Central Heights Road north of the railroad.

Seven Corners near Falls Church.

Washington Circle in DC is terrible too. The map doesn't look bad, but that's because it can't show you the anarchic traffic. Lane markings basically mean nothing because people turn from the straight-only lanes at the same time people in the turn-only lanes are going straight. The pedestrian walk signal comes on AFTER the turn light at the busiest corner, too, and a lot of drivers refuse to obey the red arrow (very bad with a busy Metro stop a block away). I go out of my way to avoid driving through there whenever possible.
