Which do you think, the west end at I-15 in Cove Fort, UT, or the east end, at a Park and Ride lot in Baltimore, MD?

East:

They both look the same on here. Just a string of characters for the filename :)

Surprisingly, none of us are using YOUR computer to read this forum.
But I'd vote for the west end.

Actually, the east end is at the four-level stack interchange with I-695. The stub at the park-and-ride was truncated away, with AASHTO approval, for transit improvements.
As partial as I am to rural interchanges, it's hard to top a well-designed urban four-level stack.
Like JP, I can't see the linked images either. They need to be uploaded to a Web server, not theroadwayone's personal OneDrive, for the rest of us to view them. The subject of hosting images for posting on this forum has been extensively (and probably repetitively) discussed in other parts of this forum.

Perhaps it has been truncated officially, but I was on the stub end just a few weeks ago, and it was still signed as I-70.
From a roadgeek perspective, I'd vote for the Baltimore end without a question. Even without the four-level interchange, the oddness of the eerily vacant wide right of way, the history behind it, and the thoughts of what might have been easily make it much more interesting, in my opinion.
Beyond the oddball control city (Cove Fort), the west end is a relatively ordinary freeway of the Mountain West–reasonably scenic, but not remarkable.
All right; here are the images, take deux.

I do have to sort of agree; an interchange with a breathtaking, scenic backdrop vs. a parking lot isn't much of a contest.
I would like to beg to differ regarding the eastern end. Surely it looks like this :pan:

The eastern end is more interesting. The western end is more scenic. As a matter of fact the entire stretch from Breezewood to the eastern terminus is pretty interesting.

It looks like the transit improvements that would have deconstructed the stub east of I-695 have been temporarily halted.
I vote for the west end. From Streetview it appears you do not get much of a view of the stack with I-695 from I-70 since I-70 is on the top level.

I could have sworn there was one on either end of I-40 mentioning the other terminus, but I can't find it on GSV. There is a freestanding sign in CA mentioning the distance to Wilmington, NC via I-40, but not a mileage sign listing other places.

Well, hell -- anything in that part of Utah looks better covered with winter snow than warmer-time sagebrush and dirt. Still, the mountains around that area (should have included shots from I-15 perspective as well!), IMO, make it no contest -- the west end looks arguably better than the concrete detritus of the functionally abandoned east end extension.

At least it provoked some sort of response; IMO it's better if someone
asks a legitimate question about something rather than just going "huh?" and leaving it at that. Maybe I'm tilting at windmills, but I tend to deplore the "dumbing-down" of discourse in general (I refuse to tweet -- 140 characters [maybe 280 by now!] my ass!).

Except you can't travel between the two Sewards on a single highway. From Seward AK, you'd need to take AK 9 to AK 1 to AK 2 to YT 1 to BC 97, then once you hit Dawson Creek BC, you have lots of choices but all require you to take multiple highways the rest of the way to Seward NE.
The Seward sign is more like part of a "sign tree", some of which have even more extreme distances, like the one that used to be in Prudhoe Bay AK (http://www.alaskaroads.com/ampm-minimart-sign-large.jpg). But nothing like the I-70 and US 20 signs, which show road distances over a single route.
At least on the western end, you can see the end of the road several miles ahead of you:

The 2016
Highway Location Reference shows I-70 running to the Baltimore City line.
IMO the
HLR is canon when discussing the extent of the Maryland state-maintained highway network (both "free" and toll).
To answer the question (I have been to both ends of I-70 and driven everything in between), the Maryland end is rather ignominious at a combined commuter lot, bus stop and trailhead where trail continues east into Leakin Park, which was "saved" from I-70 but is still a favored place for dumping the bodies of victims of Baltimore City murders.
The west end of I-70 at I-15 is a directional interchange, located in typical western scenery, complete with sagebrush. Annoyingly, the "control city" used by Maryland at the other end of I-70 is Cove Fort, which is accessed from the next-to-last I-70 interchange at UT-161.

Does that one have an equivalent in Seward, AK?
I like the Cove Fort end. Sucker for the open spaces, I guess. The more or less uniform type and size of trees blocking all other views gets tiresome quickly.
I'm curiots to find out if the right overhead BGS at the I-15 split first said Salt Lake, and the City line was added later. There areally still quite a few signs which still only say Salt Lake.
I have never been to either end of I-70 yet

Cove Fort actually is quite historically significant, especially for Mormons.
