Another instance: Long ago, someone at our party dressed up as (CA) Highway 17: sweatshirt, wavy black felt with matchbox cars attached. Don't remember who it was.
The last year that I went out trick-or-treating, I was a GPS, with the I-495/MA 110 (exit 46) interchange showing. I have a photo, but I haven't uploaded it anywhere.
For the last few years, I have been giving out candy, not going trick-or-treating, so this was a few years ago.
Not road related, but transportation-related: I've had friends who in the past dressed up as a MARC (MD commuter rail) conductor and as the DC Metro system.
Love it!
The puns were real! :-D :bigass:
Last year, I went to a party as a flagman
I had a mini stop sign I taped to a dowel rod, wore a hard hat and safety vest. Someone else came as a lineman, so I lost when it came to creativity.

Yeah I could always go the safe route and just put on my hard hat and vest and some safety glasses.

Auntie apparently hasn't looked at Section 3 of the MUTCD.
If I were to come up with a road-related costume, it would probably be a sandwich man version of a BGS–just for the fun of making the sign.
so, i want to ask ODOT for a traffic drumcut a hole in it for my face, then put it on... my mom suggests an orange shirt and duct tape, but that's no fun for a roadgeek!
