Title: The best NFL team never to win a palyoff game.
Post by: dvferyance on January 15, 2018, 12:09:00 PM
As a Colts fan I still remember mouring MLK day in 2006 about the very heartbreaking loss to a mediocre Pittsburgh team that year. Everything seemed to be going right that year dominating everyone home field advantage in the playoffs even the super bowl was in dome that year. Anything less that a super bowl was going to be a disappointment and this team could not even win a playoff game. I would say the 2005 Colts are the best team ever never to win a playoff game. Although I would put the 2011 Packers as a close second. It's easy to forget this as the Colts did come back and win it all the following season. Anyone else comes to mind as being really good but falling flat in the playoffs?

1980 Cleveland Browns. Brian Sipe was NFL MVP that season. The Browns were to have home field for the AFC playoffs that season, but
that was rendered moot by Red Right 88

And to add further context to that play, the Browns were on the 13 yard line trailing 14-12 with 49 seconds left when that happened.

Had to be the 2010 14-2 Pats.  Still can't believe they lost to Buttfumble Sanchez and the Jets in a 1 vs. 6 game at home in the Divisional Playoffs.  28-21, and it wasn't even that close.

I agree that was a shocker. Especially since the Patriots dominated the Jets in the regular season. Rex Ryan was one coach I loved to hate.

2010 Pats or 2011 Packers. Both teams had bad defenses carried by star quarterbacks.

I mentioned the 2011 Packers what is shocking is that they had a much better team that year then the year before when the won the super bowl. For whatever reason Eli Manning always did well in the playoffs when playing at Green Bay. He also beat them in an upset there in the 2007 NFC championship game Favre's last as a Packer. I still say the 05 Colts are no 1 becasue they were more dominant despite losing one more game that year.

No mention of the Buffalo Bills of the early 1990s? ;)

They won plenty of playoff games.

2011 Packers. 15-1 in the regular season led by one of the top offenses of all time but with no defense. Lost to the Giants in the divisional round.
