I looked around and couldn't find a suitable thread for such a topic. This is surprising as their seems to be a lot of map geeks/enthusiasts on this forum.
As a cartographer myself, I'm looking at maps all day. I always enjoy seeing new and interesting maps, so I'm starting this thread as a repository for those we come across.
I'll start off with this one, a 1955 upside-down map to help Northerners get to Florida.

Noticed that part of (now) US 401 in NC was shown as US 15A; since the map was dated 1955, does anyone know when the numbering change to 401 occurred?

US 401 is shown as such on the 1957 NC Offficial Map. http://www.vahighways.com/ncannex/route-log/us401.html
Ugh, this makes me want to rant about wanting north to be "up" at all times on a GPS map in a vehicle.
IIRC, and yes I'm that old, it is odd to see the ESSO logo on a map of non-ESSO states. On the smaller format maps of just one or two states ESSO was strict to use ENCO or Humble.
