Who here likes & collects old maps? I have a big box of old maps, mostly 60's-00's, a few 50's & 40's and a couple 30's, that I am wanting to dispose of. Feel free to contact me off-forum for an itemized list us71 {at} cox {dot} net.
Split topic of general old map interests vs. US 71's list of maps available for trade/sale - AARoads
Click here (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=2502.0) for the general interest topic on the same subject.
Feel free to post map wants, maps for trade, maps for sale, etc. in this thread.
I have three maps in my collection I am willing to trade:
1963 Alberta official
1964 Ontario official
1965 Ontario official
I am mainly interested in pre-1980 state officials or pre-1980 city maps.
Maps, free to a good home. One has been written on, by some bratty child ;) a long time ago. I'd hate to have to recycle them, or some far worse fate [like underselling them on Feebay].
1970 Texas DOT (even shows mountain relief as brown splotches...almost like coffee stains....and how nice to see US 290 ending all the way at US 80/I-20........this one has been written on).
1985(?) Philadelphia Rand McNally (cost $1.50! Those were the days! I-95 is not complete around Philly International, and has a scheduled completion date of Early 1986....tears and tape are in abundance on this one!).
1970 Houston Enco (It's in two pieces, but US 75 still goes to Galveston!)
If all goes successful with these, there should be a few more to give away.
Send a PM if interested.
Looking for a nice 1967 Rand McNally (birth year). I have a mint condition 1979 Missouri State Map I can trade.
I'm always looking for hotel directories, but I'm afraid I lack much to trade. Just a 1961 Best Western guide, a couple motel post cards, and a few flyers from the late 80s about Masters Economy Inns.
Looking for pre 1960 Suffolk County Hagstroms.
I'm looking for any New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York official maps from anything pre-1980s.

I may have a couple NY 60's... let me look.
I'm glad I stumbled on this. I'm looking 4 the following:
1. 1962 Ohio Official Highway Map.
2. 1966 Hammond Road Atlas.
3. 1966 Rand McNally Road Atlas & Travel Guide.
4. 1967 Rand McNally Road Atlas & Travel Guide.
5. 1967 Rand McNally Interstate Road Atlas.
6. 1969 Rand McNally Pocket Mini Road Atlas (somehow I misplaced the 1 I had :-().
7. 1971 Rand McNally Road Atlas & Travel Guide. :coffee:
They made pocket atlases that far back?
At least that far back. :coffee:

Would not have guessed that. Same size as the little pocket ones today (4X6 or so)?
They are 4"x7.5". :coffee:

I am in the process of purging from my map collection (need more space) and am offering these atlases to anyone who wants them. If you want the whole batch, or want to redistribute them at a future road meet, I am fine with either. Preference would be to meet up with someone and give them in person versus making a ton of mail runs, especially considering how much weight is involved. Maybe someone in Alabama, Florida or on the Gulf Coast is interested? I could arrange an impromptu roadtrip in the future to meet up with someone. PM me or respond here.
I'd be interested in the Benchmark Colorado, and then the red Atlas and Gazetteer editions of: Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada, Texas, Utah, Wyoming.
what would it take to get them shipped to me in San Diego?
(also, if I failed to spot any atlases of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, or any other western states that I frequently travel to, I'd be interested in those. I already have Cal and NM so those are not needed, but others would be great!)

I bet Priority Mail would be under $10
Hey Alex, I'd be interested in the red Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Hawaii ones. When is the next time you're coming up to Delaware?
So far I have Jake with AK, AZ, Benchmark CO, HI, NV, TX, UT, WY, David with AR, LA, MS and the other TX, and Ian with NH and MA.
thanks! :sombrero:
I'll take the Arkansas and New Mexico Atlas & Gazetteers.
Looks like agentsteel beat me to the Nevada gazetteer...
I'd be interested in Virginia and North Carolina if you make it up here any time soon.
Oh and is that an ADC map of Baltimore? I'd certainly like that!
I lost a bunch of maps in a garage fire. Does anyone here know of an online store that sells old road maps and atlases? I need the replacement prices for the insurance.

I'm not sure there is any set value besides what people will pay on e-bay.
However, you might check with RMCA (www.roadmaps.org)and see if they can help you.
Dang...thinking I donated a bunch of maps somewhere...but I might still have them somewhere. I'm looking for old Texas/Austin maps.

How old? I may have a few.
New map want:
I may be looking to replace a part of my collection of NYSDOT maps, specifically the Urban Areas atlas that was issued in 2000 as a supplement to the NYS Atlas & Gazetteer of 1998. I'd consider buying the whole atlas if available, but I specifically need the supplement. My dog ate it.
I don't know whether anybody would have a copy for sale or trade, but maybe there are some map dealers you know of who'd specialize in rare, out-of-print, but not antique, maps like this.
