Title: Brent Spence Bridge replacement
Post by: Revive 755 on February 03, 2010, 12:13:59 AM
Article indicating that six possible designs remain for the new span:

Is there a reason the basket handle arch bridges are more popular now than those with the more traditional parallel arch?

Can't say I really like any of the remaining designs, though if I had to pick one, it would be the trident tower cable stay design.  But I really wonder if Ohio and Kentucky are in for a similar disappointment that the St. Louis area had with the new bridge for I-70 - the assumption of the large amount of federal funding being acquired will be wrong.

^^^

Unfortunately, I didn't have time to give it a good read, so I'll have to ask.

I read some things awhile back about this being considered as a tolled crossing?  Has that been or is that being seriously considered?

None of the designs seem all that interesting.  The lousy renderings don't help, but anything they do is hobbled by the fact that the old bridge is going to remain.
