Title: Grand View Point Road, Shafer Canyon Road, and UT 279
Post by: Max Rockatansky on November 03, 2018, 04:01:41 PM
Continuing through my 2016 Fall Trip blog series I finally hit on Grand View Point Road, Shafer Canyon Road, and UT 279:

UT 279 is intriguing, does anyone have a proposed alignment map showing how it would have connected to Dead Horse Point?  I can't imagine that road grade would have been very tame or modern, even by 1960s standards.

See Page 4 of the SR-279 resolution:

The original description was is "From a junction with Route 9 north of Moab, southwesterly down the right side of the Colorado River via Gold Bar and Day Canyon to Dead Horse Point."

Had a look at that on the maps, sure would save time over the 313 alignment had it been built.
